Psychotherapy, or talk therapy, is provided in an effort to recognize and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral issues. The process utilizes various forms of interaction and communication to accomplish this goal. During psychotherapy, you can expect to learn about your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors and how to take control of your life by responding to challenging situations with healthy coping skills.
Hypnosis, also referred to as hypnotherapy, is a trance-like state which allows for a heightened state of focus and attention. While hypnotized, you can expect to remain fully in control of your thoughts and behaviors. You can expect to feel extremely relaxed and more open and receptive to suggestions that will ultimately create the positive changes you are seeking. Hypnosis is helpful in diminishing undesired behaviors and negative habit patterns, as well as help you to cope with anxiety and depression, low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence, as well as a multitude of other issues that may be holding you back.
As a certified hypnotherapist, I have seen hypnosis help people make powerful transformations. The benefits of what this therapeutic technique can do are limitless. In my practice alone, I’ve successfully used hypnosis to:
- Help a lifetime chain smoker finally quit for good.
- Help individuals lose weight by gaining control of their eating habits.
- Help a 10-year-old girl paralyzed by her fear of dogs not only overcome it, but reach the point where she now loves dogs and has one as a pet.
- Help a teenage girl with severe test-taking anxiety work through her anxiety and increase her SAT score by over 200 points.
- Help those struggling with drugs and alcohol release the shame from addiction.
- Help a man overcome his fear of flying.
And this is only a small sampling of the number of success stories I’ve personally seen with hypnosis. The list is endless!
That’s one of the amazing things about hypnosis—it can be used for anything. No matter what you are looking to overcome, we can successfully address the issue through hypnosis.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy which uses eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation to assist clients in reprocessing distressing memories or beliefs. It was first developed for the use of post-traumatic stress disorder, though it is now commonly used with a variety of issues that continue to challenge you emotionally.
